How To Find Abstracts And Free Full Text Journal Articles

Library Of Medicine. Pub Med includes over 16 million citations
from MEDLINE and other life science journals for biomedical

How To Search Pub Med For Free Full Text Articles On

Once you get to the Pub Med home page, you'll see a
search box.
To start off, you can type " prostate cancer" in the
box. Then click search.
As of August, 2006 over 56,000 medical articles
have been written which turned up in our search. for prostate
cancer. Obviously, this number of articles is
far too large to actually read.
Pub Med has a number of choices which allow you to narrow
down your search.
To narrow down your search, click on LIMITS which you can
see just below the search box. When you click on LIMITS, a new
page will open up which allow to narrow your search.
If you are interested in free full text articles on
prostate cancer then start off by clicking on the box
for LINKS FOR FREE FULL TEXT. Then click Go at the bottom
of the page. As of August, 2006 a total of 4,881 articles
appeared in the results.
To narrow down the search even further, look carefully at
the choices in the LIMITS section. For example, there is a
choice entitlted Dates. By clicking on articles that have been
published in the last 90 days the list can
be narrowed down to 53 articles.
Many interesting articles on prostate cancer, or prostate
neoplasm, or adenocarcinoma of the prostate
are represented only by an abstract and not the whole free
full text.
These abstracts can be read for free online. Abstracts
often provide excellent summary information.
If you decide that you want to read the full text of the
article for free, then make a note of the journal title and the
volume.
You can then go the closest medical library, find the actual
medical journal, and read the fulltext of journal
articles on prostate cancer for free.
