CANCER RESEARCH ONLINE MADE EASY

Step 2        Browse the PUB MED article titles

Find articles that seem to be a good match to what you’re searching for.  In the example above, the following articles seem promising:

·        Article 4    Mastectomy or breast conserving surgery? Factors affecting

type of surgical treatment for breast cancer - a classification tree

approach.BMC Cancer. 2006 Apr 20;6(1):98 [Epub ahead of print]

·        Article 5     Early breast cancer.
Int J Clin Oncol. 2006 Apr;11(2):108-19.

·        Article 10   Breast-conserving surgery with intra-operative radiotherapy: the right approach for the 21st century?
Clin Oncol (R Coll Radiol). 2006 Apr;18(3):220-8.

For this example, I’ve just looked at the top ten articles. But,

if you don’t find article titles that seem promising, keep searching the list beyond the top ten.

Step 3     Click on Related Articles

Related Articles is a link to the far right of the article title. As an example, I’ll click on Related Articles for Article 4.

related breast cancer articles

This is the beginning of the list we then get. The first five articles are shown on this page and articles six to eleven are shown on the following page:

related breast neoplasm articles

more breast cancer articles

Step 4    Browse through this list. If any article seems even more promising, click on Related Articles again.

Look to see if any of the articles seem right on topic.

Remember there is an element of trial and error here. There is no limit to the number of times that you can look through a list, find a promising article title, and click on Related Articles.
